PLG Attorneys Anish Parikh and Sonia Mann successfully represented Defendants in a case filed against them in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Plaintiffs filed suit against the Defendants alleging various causes of action including breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and they claimed monetary damages of more than $480,000. Plaintiffs further sought the court’s assistance to obtain injunctive relief and a declaratory judgment against the Defendants. Defense counsel Anish Parikh and Sonia Mann filed a Motion to Dismiss pursuant to 735 ILCS 5/2-619 and 735 ILCS 5/2-301 asserting arguments that the Plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the lawsuit and further that Illinois courts lacked personal jurisdiction over the Defendants, who are based in Stamford, Connecticut. After months of filing responsive pleadings and the court being fully briefed of the issues, the court granted Defendants’ Motion, and dismissed the case with prejudice.
